✍️What does life drawing do for your art practice?
If you are wanting to improve your drawing and observational skills, life drawing is probably the best way to go about it. Drawing the human figure in timed poses is at first one of the most challenging things you can do, but ultimately one of the most rewarding. The quick warm up exercises help you get over white page syndrome as you capture the gesture and energy of the figure in a variety of poses, whilst the longer, more considered poses can bring out some of your best work as you develop your own interpretation and style in response to the sitter. The confidence you gain from life drawing will quickly show in other areas of your art as your work will be more decisive, expressive and individual.
✍️What is your experience of the sessions at Life Drawing Bangor?
Life Drawing evenings at Boom Studios are probably the most relaxing two (plus) hours of my week. There is a natural creative energy that I find very restorative. Louise is a very welcoming host and an excellent model, who is full of encouragement and positivity - an attitude that permeates throughout the group. The tea/coffee break is a welcome opportunity to enjoy a chat and exchange tips and ideas with the other artists. The pay as you go format is also very flexible – I would recommend Boom to anyone who enjoys art and wants to improve in an informal and sociable setting.
