✍️What does life drawing do for your art practice?
Barbara: For my art practice, life drawing took me back to my early days at art college. Life drawing is essential to one's drawing skills, the human body is so complex. If you can conquer life drawing you will have mastered proportion and three dimensional views which you can apply to any subject. Life drawing doesn't have to be approached from a classical perspective. In my session at accidental theatre company we were encouraged to change our medium for a pose so I choose charcoal which afforded more shading and therefore better form.
Lots of disciplines require the ability to draw, hairdressers, architects, gardeners.
✍️What's your experience of the sessions at Life Drawing Bangor?
My sessions with Life Drawing Bangor in Boom Studios over the last few years have been my only form of a social life, so they've been invaluable. There is no tuition, so therefore no pressure especially for those who think that they are no good and have no confidence. Sometimes it's just a question of making marks rather than creating a figurative image. In other words all abilities welcome. I recommend these sessions to anyone interested in improving drawing skills.
